In 1834 Saint Vincent Pallotti, together with a group of collaborators, wanted to publish the work “The Eternal Maxims” of St. Alphonsus Ligouri in the Arabic language. The publication was destined for the Chaldean Church in present day Iraq. The preparation of the publication was the work of divine providence, which brought together the collaborators and led to the formal foundation of the Union of Catholic Apostolate.

The publishing activity of Pallotti and his collaborators had an important place in the wide range of activities undertaken. Books, appeals, prayer books, leaflets etc. were printed in various languages.Today the Society maintains many publishing houses which publish different religious works of varied character in at least 15 languages.
